Nationally Acclaimed Animal Hospital Opens a New Animal Lodge Featuring Ferno's Aquatic Rehabilitation Equipment
DENVER (May 2005) -- Saturday, May 14, Alameda East Veterinary Hospital (AEVH), officially opened a state-of-the-art 10,000-square-foot "lodge", an upscale daycare, boarding and sports medicine and rehabilitation facility. Featured in the Animal Lodge are two Ferno Veterinary Systems' Aqua Paws Underwater Treadmill Systems and two Ferno in-ground pools.
"The opening of Animal Lodge and the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic have allowed us to raise the bar for both animal boarding, especially with our around-the-clock staffing, and for the emerging field of sports medicine and rehabilitation," says Dr. Robert Taylor, D.V.M., M.S., founder and chief of staff at AEVH.
The Animal Lodge's Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic is directed by Caroline Adamson, a renowned Master of Science in Physical Therapy and Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner. The facility features custom rehabilitation programs, a biomechanics laboratory for digital lameness evaluation, and Ferno aquatic rehabilitation equipment.
The Aqua Paws Underwater Treadmills installed at the Animal Lodge are direct drive and hydraulic units that share one tall water storage tank. The variable speed treadmills are adjustable from .5 - 5 mph and the hydraulic unit has the ability to incline to increase the intensity of the session. Both treadmills use powerful Gorilla Jets to offer highly resistant swim currents for canines. The Animal Lodge also has two Ferno in-ground fiberglass pools for either individual therapy or group swims. The 4' x 8' pool is used for canines who need one-on-one therapy. The 20' Triathlon pool has five swim pumps and is used for group therapy and recreational swimming.
"Physical rehabilitation treatments such as hydrotherapy, and the biomechanics laboratory will forever change the way veterinary medicine is practiced. These treatments are an extension of care for advanced medical and surgical options available to canines. These facilities are our statement to animal owners that we understand their needs and their love for their pets and we will do what it takes to meet those expectations," Dr. Taylor adds.
